Sunday. Mother’s Day. Celebrating me day. And my mother and
mother-in-law. And mothers everywhere. All
of you. (If you are one). Grateful for children, grown children. And grandchildren.
Reading update: In the midst of the
last of the Marseilles Trilogy: Solea.
Fascinating to see how noir plays out in this culture of immigrants and
transnational criminal organizations: big time Mafia, but I have to say this is
getting a bit bleak. Finally finished
review of the first book Total Chaos, which I posted Friday, and am writing
about Chourmo, which I hope to post this week.
Then I want to move on to something
else, but probably not a mystery. I also started Swamplandia, and am not as
infatuated as I had hoped, but maybe that will change.
Happy reading.
Gosh this is bizarre. I had never heard of this author until yesterday but instantly decided it would be a good one to add to my world literature challenge list. Now I find you are way ahead of me!

I think Izzo would be an excellent choice for world lit challenge; he really evokes sense of place. It's one of his main strengths.
ReplyDeleteI've known others that weren't super excited by Swamplandia either...s don't feel down if doesn't get better than already is.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day. Hopefully you'll find a book that's not too bleak and just right for you.
